The start from today, November 1, of the census process of the Hours of Employment by all companies - employers in the country for all their employees, with a contract of salaried dependent labor marks the start of the second phase of the implementation of the Digital Work Card, which will be gradually extended to a total of the country's businesses and workers.

It is recalled that from July 1, the Digital Labor Card is applied to all banks and supermarkets that employ more than 250 workers. In the next period, after a dialogue with both employers and employees, based on what has already been announced, the gradual expansion of the measure to sectors such as insurance companies, security companies, DEKO, and industry, will proceed. catering and tourism.

Taking into account that each sector has its own characteristics, this dialogue will start immediately, in order to implement the reform in the priority sectors without delay, but also without ignoring the specificities of individual activities. In this dialogue, the experience gained from the implementation of the Digital Work Card in banks and supermarkets will also be taken into account.

In the context of the census process that started today, the employer declares for each employee the general information of the employment relationship concerning the working time, as well as the working hours in digital form either as a fixed weekly or as variable per day. The census of employees can be done gradually (e.g. for each annex), provided that it has been completed for all staff by November 30, 2022. This process replaces the declaration of working hours in PS ERGANI, which is done today in the form of text or attached files, by the new digital process.

After the completion of the census process, in P.S. ERGANI will display the scheduled working hours per employee, branch, or company in digital calendar format (Current Status of Digital Work Time Organization), which will also be immediately available to the employee through the myErgani mobile app, as well as through myErgani web portal (https://myErgani.gov.gr).

In order to prepare businesses and inform employees, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has posted detailed instructions and the technical specifications for the implementation of the new regulations at this address.

The Digital Work Card ensures a series of advantages for employees, businesses, and the State, as well as with its application:

  •     The interests of employees are safeguarded by fully recording actual working hours and securing important evidence for claiming dues.
  •     Healthy businesses are protected from the unfair competition of "black" and undeclared work.
  •     The inspection by the Labor Inspectorate is facilitated with transparent and objective procedures.
  •     The income of the insurance system is protected from contributions.\
